Clear Line of Sight
The desk had served its purpose. A wider sector demanded surveillance. Marching across the baseboard, I seized the hanging blind cord, scaling upward hand over hand until reaching the broad, white window ledge. Sunlight poured across the smooth sill, illuminating the street below. A gust of wind threatened to scatter a cluster of dried leaf fragments toward the interior rug. I stepped directly into their path, using my rigid boots to sweep the debris back against the pane. Now stationed on the broad ledge, my view spans both the room behind and the world beyond.
