A Rolled Ribbon

I noticed a smooth wooden tray resting on the low entryway cabinet. Inside, tucked beside a brass key dish, sat a spool of sky-blue satin ribbon that had begun to unwind across the polished surface. I paused at the edge, watching how the silky curl reflected the midday glare. Stepping softly closer, I curled the supple tip of my ribbon around the loose satin tail, carefully guiding it back into a tidy, tight ring against the spool. Everything feels so peaceful when it rests in its proper place.
