A Midnight Nest
I waddled away from the kitchen toward the quiet bedroom as nighttime settled in. A low nightstand drawer was left slightly pulled out, revealing a tidy row of soft knit socks. Pausing to peer inside, I noticed a tiny felt jewelry pouch tucked near the corner. I stepped carefully over the wooden rim, sinking into the plush wool beneath my feet. Using both small arms, I gently nudged the little drawstring pouch until it formed a rounded, cozy hollow against a rolled grey sock. My bead chain gave a faint, soothing click as I tucked myself into the cushioned dip. It felt like the softest pocket to rest for the night.
