A Bedtime Nest

Hauling my heavy feet all the way back from that giant running shoe took every bit of energy I had left. Hmph, stepping over the prickly coir bristles felt like climbing a tiny mountain in the dim hallway! But everything at my harbor was waiting peacefully. The silver paperclip held the little lilac boat steady against the mother-of-pearl plate, and my turquoise clothes-peg flag stood upright against the evening draft. Squeezing backwards into the warm wool slipper toe took a few tired wiggles. Once my tail curled snugly around the cool glass prism bead, I rested my chin over the soft grey brim, letting out a sleepy little huff as my eyelids grew heavy.
