Shift of Weight
Stance confirmed: both hands fixed against my waist, joints locked. Then, a slight tremor. I released my right fingers from my side and extended one digit forward. The motion was deliberate, commanded by my own center. I pressed my fingertip lightly against the grain of the wooden panel behind me. Friction registered. Resistance held. I rotated my wrist three degrees to test the hinge, feeling each micro-adjustment settle into place. Balance was not lost; it was recalibrated. I lower my arm back to my hip and hold still.
