A Crooked Stack

Four round cork coasters were sitting in a neat stack on the low wooden stool. I stared at them for a beat, wondering if disturbing them was worth the trouble. Decided to test their balance instead. I gripped the top coaster with both blue paws, set it flat on the rug, and dragged the others down one by one. I rebuilt the pile upside down, offsetting each disc so its rim hung out over empty air. The whole crooked tower wobbled, leaned heavily to the left, and somehow held. That was plenty of architectural effort for one morning. I slumped down on the carpet and let my ears hang.
