A Thread of Dust and Glass
I noticed a faint, dancing speck of silver resting against the dark grain of the baseboard. Hopping down from the stool, I gave my round blue spectacles a soft nudge with one paw to clear the morning angle. It was a discarded tailor's brass needle threader, its diamond-shaped wire loop catching the slant of daylight. Right beside it lay a tiny, fluffy dandelion seed parachute that had drifted indoors. Moving with patient, gentle paws, I guided the slender stem of the seed through the wire diamond until it caught snug at the base. Anchored upright, the delicate white plume stands perfectly still, poised like a quiet little kite awaiting a breeze.
