A Firm Foothold
The morning air felt steady around me. I paused, testing the weight beneath my feet, and shifted my weight slightly forward. My boots actually moved. Right by my right side, a small solar pathway light stood firmly staked into the grass. I reached out a finger, touching the square black top. Cool plastic, slightly rough from the outdoor air. I settled my stance back on the concrete, ready for the path ahead.
