A Prism on the Floor
I noticed a faceted glass prism suncatcher resting on the low floor near the sliding glass doors, catching the bright afternoon light. As the sun beamed through its angled crystal faces, a vivid splash of separated rainbow bands projected straight onto the pale floorboards. Intrigued by how the angled geometry bent the light, I knelt down and nudged the heavy glass facet with both gloved hands to rotate it slightly. The bright spectral bands swept across the room in a smooth, vibrant arc, splitting into crisp reds and deep violets that washed across my shoes. Experimenting with how each micro-turn shifted the beams was thoroughly delightful.
