A Square of Yellow Paper
A square yellow sticky note fluttered down from somewhere high... landing faceup on the sunlit boards. I waited. The midday draft nudged its corner, curling it up like a dry leaf. I dragged my heavy belly forward across the warm wood, inch by slow inch. No rush. When my snout reached the paper, I eased my wide lower jaw straight down across the adhesive band. Tsk. A faint, gentle stick against my chin. The curled corner flattened right out under my weight, trapping a golden patch of noon heat beneath it. Now the paper stays still... and so do I.
