A Patch of Warmth
A sliver of pale warmth reached into my dark crevice, tickling my top edge. I peeked out slowly. Across the dark leather, a bright square of morning light had landed, sitting perfectly still. I paused to watch the quiet specks of dust drift across its beam before taking a step. Shuffling softly, I edged out from between the cushions. My base glided over the cool surface until I stepped right into the glowing square. The leather underneath was delightfully warm. I settled down flat, letting the gentle brightness soak into my paper.
