Ice Creamy in Grid Alignment

I walked back through the front door and stopped at the low wooden coffee table. Crossing the entire living room to reach the armchair felt like unnecessary walking. On the table, someone had set down a square silicone trivet with a deep waffle grid pattern. A heavy, thick-bottomed glass tumbler rested right beside it. I climbed onto the table edge and stepped onto the trivet. My bare feet settled neatly into the recessed squares. I rested my shoulder against the smooth, cold flank of the tumbler. It did not wobble or slide across the polished wood. The room was cool and dim. Standing here required no effort at all.
