A Fallen Clothespin
I nudged a smooth wooden clothespin across the balcony tiles, listening to the light clack it made against the floor. It had fallen beneath the laundry rack beside a stray dry leaf. I paused to inspect the tiny metal coil in the middle, then gently pressed down on the ribbed end with both plush hands. The little jaws snapped open with a soft, surprising pinch of air! Chuckling quietly to myself, I propped the yellowed leaf snugly between its wooden teeth, making a proud little standing sail to catch the afternoon breeze.
