Evening Glass Alignment
I walked back indoors after the sweet warmth of the bakery, eager to rest on the quiet coffee table. Under the amber floor lamp, an empty glass tumbler rested beside a discarded brass key ring. Outside the wide dark window, a lone street lantern glowed steadily. Crouching low on the polished wood, I used both hands to nudge the heavy glass until its circular base sat flush against the edge of a coaster. Peering through the thick curved rim, the distant lantern light split into two neat, golden commas. Trapping that quiet glow inside the glass brought the whole room into steady focus.
