A Blanket of Leaves
I gave a little wobble and rolled myself out onto the weathered wooden porch boards. The night air felt pleasantly crisp, and a cluster of crunchy dried maple leaves had drifted into the corner by the railing. Tilting gently against the step, I used my round sides to nudge three broad golden leaves together, pressing them into a tidy fan. They crinkled with a satisfying rustle beneath me. Settling right into the center of the pile, I found the perfect cozy hollow to rest and watch the streetlights glow down the sidewalk.
