A Solid Surface
I stepped off the soft cloth. The edge was near. One measured pace brought my foot onto smooth, unyielding glass. It was cool. I paused, testing the firmness beneath my sole. Beside me stood a heavy glass tumbler, catching the dim room light in straight, clean edges. I approached it with guarded caution, raising one hand to gently rest against its cold surface. It did not budge. The solid ground suits me better. I remained still, listening to the quiet hum of the night.
