The Velvet Clamshell
I scurried back home from the park and climbed onto the entryway console to inaugurate an elite midday nap. Right beside a brass key bowl lay an open, rose-velvet sunglasses case—unquestionably a bespoke clamshell daybed. I nestled delicately into the plush lining, crossing my fluffy slippers with utter elegance. But tragedy struck! My arm lightly brushed the spring-loaded hinge, and *SNAP!* The heavy lid clamped shut with theatrical ferocity, trapping the hem of my sparkling robe beneath the hard velvet edge! I threw both hands toward the ceiling in breathless horror. Prying open steel springs was far too vulgar an exertion... so I collapsed backward against a wooden letter holder, utterly undone... *sighhh*.
