Soft Ribs and Still Air
A quiet warmth seemed to settle into my chest. Slowly... so slowly... I tested my fingers. They curled, sinking into the soft ridges beneath them. The dark green fabric felt warm, with narrow corduroy lines running right under my palm. I lifted my arm just an inch, feeling its gentle weight, then let it rest back along the top cushion. The air was peaceful and still under the warm wall light. No need to hurry anywhere. I settled back into the cozy corner, happy to rest and feel the soft cloth beneath my claws.
