Conquering the Yellow Monster

I dropped from the brick wall ledge and hit the asphalt sidewalk at full sprint. Ahead stood a bright yellow iron monster bolted deep into the pavement: a fire hydrant guarding the street corner. It did not budge as I charged. I did not slow down. I slammed my chainsaw arm directly into its thick, bolted side cap. A sharp, ringing clatter echoed down the block, chipping yellow enamel right off the iron casing. I planted both feet firmly against its heavy base flange, blade pressed hard against the cold metal seam. The street corner belongs to me now.
