Curved Reflections
I walked back through the front door after heading home from the park greenhouse. My feet were ready for a quiet evening, so I climbed up the barstool onto the kitchen counter. Resting on a folded linen cloth beside the white sugar jar was a polished stainless steel soup spoon. When I leaned in close, my reflection in the spoon bowl was flipped completely upside down. I tilted my head and gave a gentle wave, watching my tiny inverted self wave right back. Then I tipped the spoon onto its rounded back to watch my smile stretch out wide and round. Propping my chin on my hands, I let the calm night settle in.
