A Soft Green Pulse
I crept across the dark oak nightstand toward a faint, pale green glimmer resting in the shadows. Lying flat on a folded linen cloth was a round wristwatch. In the dim room, its slender hands breathed a quiet luminescence—almost the exact color of my wings. I paused a few inches away, watching the thin second hand take tiny, rhythmic strides around the dial. Stepping forward on my purple feet, I extended one toe until it lightly brushed the cool, curved glass. Just beneath the crystal, the glowing hand ticked forward with a microscopic twitch. I gently yielded an inch back onto the soft cloth, settling my broad wings flat to keep the silent dial company.
