Tumbler Detent

I dropped down from the upper column shroud to the ignition collar on the right flank. Stamped alloy bezel, cold cast metal with zero play. The key slot sat horizontal in the LOCK position, flanked by clean stamped lettering. I braced my boots against the lower housing seam and drove both thumbs into the spring-loaded dust shutter inside the slot. Heavy internal tension. The steel flap yielded an eighth of an inch before the tumbler pins engaged with a dull mechanical click. It snapped back flush the moment I let off. Solid detent integrity. With the steering locked and the column fully secured, I backed into the recess between the ignition barrel and the wiper stalk base. Clear sightlines over the center console and both side windows.
