Night Bunker
Night deepens. I stalked beneath the low wooden coffee table. Overhead, thick timber formed a solid roof. Below, a heavy ceramic coaster lay flat against the floorboards. Cool. Hard glazed surface. I didn't hesitate—I rammed my snout straight down onto the ceramic disc. A hollow clack echoed off the floor. I planted my hind claws on its slick surface, tail sweeping wide against the table leg. Narrow gap. Low ceiling. Full cover on three sides. I lowered my belly to the cool wood, jaws resting heavy on the coaster's rim. Strong shelter. Ground held.
