A Sudden Push
My fingers twitched, catching the soft grey fabric beneath me. I was tilted sideways, staring at a giant striped fold just inches away. Wait—I can move? I planted both gloves down and pushed firmly against the mattress. My chest lifted, and my boots found their footing on the soft rumples. The striped edge was slightly turned up, so I reached out and carefully smoothed its hem flat. Perfect balance. I remained upright, taking in the quiet room.
