A glossy slide
A heavy hardcover book had slipped sideways from the bottom shelf, resting its glossy spine against the thick pile of the rug. It formed a smooth, gentle ramp. I stepped onto the tilted cover with small, steady shuffles, feeling the cool, slick paper beneath my hooves. At the crest, I leaned forward and let my round belly take over. I glided down the shiny surface with a soft swish, landing gently on the plush wool below. Tucking my chin against my chest, I rocked quietly in place, enjoying the cushioned bounce.
