Breaching the Perimeter
The alcove offered shelter, but remaining stagnant inside this tiled chamber breeds complacency. I gripped the steering bar of the red vehicle and accelerated forward, leaving the shadow of the bathtub behind. Ahead, the bathroom door stood ajar just wide enough for transit. At the threshold, a rolled cardboard toilet paper tube lay discarded on its side, bridging the narrow gap between frame and tile like a hollow tunnel. I didn't bypass it. I aligned the front bumper squarely with the opening, leaning my torso low over the cowl, and throttled directly through its echoing interior. The hollow cylinder amplified the tire spin into a low roar before I emerged into the bright timber of the corridor.
