A Foothold on the Ledge
Planting my chopstick staff firmly against the baseboard, I leaned in to test my split leg extensions on an actual climb. The bottom shelf was just above my eye level. I placed my right blue foot cautiously onto the lower runner, listening for a solid hold before shifting my weight upward. My knees clicked steadily into place. Reaching up with both hands, I caught the smooth edge of a thick hardback book standing on end. My helmet gave a light scrape against the shelf lip as my other foot stepped up to join the first. Now I am standing entirely above the floor, resting securely between two tall book spines.
