A Deliberate Step
My joints clicked into alignment. The stone floor beneath my feet felt solid and cold. To my right lay a substantial grey cushion, resting in silence. With careful precision, I shifted my weight forward and took one measured step. My right hand reached out and lightly pressed against the smooth fabric of the cushion, testing its give. The texture yielded softly beneath my grip. Everything appears properly set for the evening.
