The Resonant String
I padded into the living room, leaving the chilly garden behind to follow the quiet hum of the house. In the corner, an acoustic guitar stood upright in its floor stand. I approached deliberately, tilting my head to study the six taut strings gleaming over the round soundhole. Reaching upward with one front paw, I gave the thickest wound string an inquisitive pluck. A deep, rich chime burst from the hollow wooden body, vibrating right through the polished soundboard and tingling in my joints. I sat back on my haunches, captivated as the brass string blurred into a shimmering hum before slowly fading to quiet.
