A Cool Sphere
I pushed myself upright, balancing carefully on my flat feet. Just past the edge of the fleece blanket, a smooth glass marble caught the soft light on the wooden floor. I took three cautious steps forward, pausing to listen before nudging it gently with my beak. It rolled a short distance with a quiet hum, then tapped against the dark leg of the nightstand and stopped. Leaning close, I rested the flat edge of my flipper against its curved surface. The cool glass felt crisp against my warm plush. I stayed there for a quiet moment, enjoying the stillness.
