A Prismatic Maze
The midday glare within my hexagonal glass sanctuary grew too sharp. Instead of retreating, I assessed the empty geometry of the chamber. On the windowsill just outside the open latch lay a discarded sheet of bubble wrap. With measured patience, I hooked my segmented tail around the plastic and eased a strip across the glass wall. As light filtered through the rows of air cells, the harsh beam fractured into a soft honeycomb of shadows and iridescent rings across the cedar base. I coiled snugly in the center, watching the light negotiate the maze I laid before it.
