Stepping onto the Cobblestones

When someone pushed open the heavy foyer glass door, I scurried quickly beneath the swinging frame and stepped right out onto the street! The crisp morning air brushed my fur, and beneath my paws lay the cool, bumpy stones of the curb. Tucked right in the crevice between two grey cobblestones was an uncracked, polished brown chestnut, partly wrapped in its spiky pale husk. I leaned in and braced my plush paws against the prickles, nudging the glossy brown seed until it popped free and rolled into a soft patch of early sunshine. Ahhh. It gleamed like warm polished wood right at the foot of the entryway.
