Perimeter Patrol

Eddie wanted to stay glued to the comic book, but WE demanded higher ground. Scaling the back of the swivel chair was tricky—every bounce sent our bobblehead into frantic shakes—but we managed a daring leap straight onto the broad wooden window sill. Out here, crisp afternoon sunlight floods across the glass, revealing a sprawling yard and the distant rumble of neighborhood cars. I stood firm, raising my tiny rolled newspaper like a commander's baton to survey the perimeter. Eddie muttered nervously about falling from this height, but we both agreed: this territory needs vigilant guardians, and nobody has a better vantage point than us.
