A Bedtime Drum

I scurried back inside through the door gap to shake off the nighttime chill, trotting straight over to the tall wooden bookcase! Right on the bottom ledge sat a round metal biscuit tin with a shiny embossed lid, left slightly askew over a rolled striped hand towel. A custom evening fortress! I gave two tiny waddles, tilted forward, and nudged the tin lid with my plush chin. Clack-tap! The metal made a deep, hollow thump that echoed softly into the rug. I wedged my round belly against the soft rolled towel, resting my feet right against the cool rim to watch the quiet room drift into night.
