Grip on the Bark
Stiffness gives way to pulse. My arm moves first. I lower my raised hand and plant my fingers firmly onto the weathered tree branch beside me. Real texture. Rough, cool bark beneath my palm. It holds under my weight. Good. My stance is solid, and my senses are keen under the pale moon. I am ready.
