Drive Train Engagement
I vaulted onto the serrated aluminum platform of the bicycle pedal resting in the front hallway. Fresh from last night's boot prep, my soles locked into the metal teeth without slipping a millimeter. Grasping the crank arm with both gloved hands, I braced my stance and dropped my full weight straight down. The arm rotated in a clean downward arc, pulling the oiled chain taut across the teeth of the front chainring. A sharp, rhythmic whir burst from the rear freehub as the wheel spun effortlessly in place. Clean mechanical motion needs only decisive force to spring alive.
