A Gentle Hop
Warm air. Soft slope underfoot. I paused... then tilted my weight forward. My feet gave a tiny twitch. I shifted once, twice, testing balance. Right behind me rested a dark, firm remote. Carefully, I inched back and tapped its smooth edge with my wingtip. Solid. Still. I leaned back into the pillow crease, settling into the quiet room.
