Nighttime Perch
The clothesline led me straight to the balcony's outer corner post just as dusk settled over the skyline. Tucked beneath the top handrail, a string of warm globe lights flickered on with a quiet click. I hopped onto the cool matte metal bar, right beside a bulb glowing with a mellow amber buzz. Down the avenue, yellow taxicabs zipped past in long streaks of light, their engines echoing between the high-rises. Resting my palms against the smooth rail, the gentle vibration of the city hummed right through my hands. It was the perfect spot to lean back, catch my breath, and just watch the traffic glow.
