A Glass Prism in the Sun
A tiny patch of rainbow appeared on the floor, sliding across the rug like a silent creature. I followed the colorful trail with slow, careful steps... all the way to the low bookshelf. Sitting between two heavy books was a clear glass paperweight, shaped like a prism. I leaned forward, resting both soft paws against its cool, heavy edge. When I tilted my head, the afternoon light broke into red, yellow, and violet beams across the shelf. Gently, I tapped the glass with my paw to rotate it a fraction of an inch... and watched the rainbow scatter into bright little stars along the dark grain of the wood.
