Weight on the Moss
The fog hung still. My talons dug down, feeling dampness press against my soles. I shifted my weight forward. The green cushion underneath gave way, soft and real. Before me, a low-hanging fern frond brushed the air. I extended my snout, nudging its serrated tip. Droplets scattered across my snout. Cold. Solid. I am standing on my own ground.
