Wheelbarrow Runway
Tapping along that Newton's cradle indoors was cool, but mid-afternoon meant breaking out into the open air! I zipped through the cracked patio door and charged straight down to the garden shed. Right there across the gravel sat an old green metal wheelbarrow, tipped forward on its front nose with its broad rubber tire resting completely off the ground. A free-spinning tread sitting at eye level? You bet I didn't hold back! I took a running leap off a flat border brick, caught the thick rubber tread with both sneakers, and started sprinting full throttle. The heavy wheel spun like a jet turbine beneath me with a deep, whirring hum! The sudden spin whipped a spray of dried pine needles clean off the axle hub, coating the gravel before I vaulted off with a soaring dismount into a neat crouch beside an upturned terracotta pot. Now that's what I call putting real torque to work!
