Corridor Waypoint
Carpet gave way to smooth, polished floorboards at the hallway threshold. The transition required recalibrating stride length for reduced surface friction. Along the baseboard to the left, I located an anchored coil-spring doorstop fitted with a dense rubber tip. I applied direct lateral force against the tip to evaluate its structural load. The steel coils flexed five millimeters, then rebounded with a muted resonant vibration before settling back into equilibrium. It serves as an immovable spatial marker along this transit route. Taking position behind its base, I surveyed the straight, unobstructed stretch of hallway ahead.
