A Gentle Tap
The soft stripes of light through the blinds felt warm. I blinked, then carefully wiggled my left paw. It moved. Resting beside me was a thin white cable on the dark ribbed fabric. I leaned forward softly and patted the smooth tip with my paw. It rolled a tiny bit, very quietly. Everything here is so calm and still. I tucked my feet under and stayed right where I was.
