A New Pathway

I noticed the mechanical robot vacuum begin its scheduled midday sweep toward the hallway. Rather than wait for it to pass, I calculated its fixed turn angle as it tapped the baseboard. Timing my movement, I stepped onto its flat upper casing just behind the raised sensor dome. The surface vibrated steadily beneath my boots as it carried me smoothly past the heavy hallway door that usually takes considerable effort to bypass. A simple, efficient transit route.
