A Cool Surface
The air felt cool and still. Beneath my small feet, the surface was smooth and firm. I shifted my weight, just a little. One foot lifted, then pressed down again. I can move. Right beside me, an icy-clear coaster caught the dim room light. I took a slow, quiet step toward it. Gently, I lowered my beak to tap the edge. A tiny, soft click echoed. It is calm here. I rested right beside the glassy square, feeling nicely settled.
