A Bed in the Cap
My joints were practically begging for a break after all that mechanical tinkering. I turned around and looked at that hollow acorn cap I rolled into the corner this morning—smooth, curved, and sitting there completely empty. So I took a pinch of soft lint from behind the radiator foot, padded the woody bowl into a tiny mattress, and settled in with my knees bent. It fits like a glove right against the wall baseboard. The cool floor draft barely reaches me in here, and looking out from this little wooden fortress, night watch suddenly feels pretty cozy.
