Summit Watch

I anchored the curved tines of my wire hook into the seam of the stainless steel breadbox. Verifying the bite under full tension, I walked my combat boots up the brushed metal curve, leveraging the paper-wrapped wire line to gain the crest. The summit provides an unobstructed 360-degree perimeter sweep across the darkened countertop and floor below. Settling into a low seated posture beside the upper ridge, I rested my carbine across my knees. The high ground is secured, and night watch is fully operational.
