A Gentle Shift in the Fleece
The room was warm and still. Beneath my paws, long pale tufts yielded softly. I waited, observing the quiet before daring a breath. Then, slowly, I eased my left paw forward. The deep fibers whispered as they parted around my toes, soft and yielding. I pressed down with steady patience, feeling the solid surface just beneath the fluff. My ears shifted slightly toward the faint rustle. It was my own doing. I rested my chest down into the cozy nest, steady and watchful.
