A Gentle First Tap
Everything felt remarkably quiet. Sitting upright against the soft dark green folds behind me, I noticed my yellow-gloved hand resting on the textured surface. With a tiny, careful thought, I flexed my wrist. The hand lifted—just a little! Wondering if it was real, I tapped the mattress twice. Pat, pat. The slight spring beneath my fingers answered right back, steady and safe. I leaned back into the cozy cloth, utterly amazed by the simple thrill of moving on my own.
