Clean Edges
Returning inside from the curb, I stepped under the front door and scaled the rung of the desk chair. A folded gray microfiber cloth lay near the base of the desk lamp. Hours along the avenue had left a fine trace of street grit on my handheld device. I placed the small slate flat against the plush weave, pressing down with both hands to draw it firmly across the fabric. A faint line of pale dust lifted off the casing, restoring the clean matte edge. Leaning back against the lamp's heavy brass pedestal, I inspected the polished corners. Order restored.
